Ms. Black did not normally spend her free time out on the grounds. She would normally be found lurking somewhere in the dungeons or causing trouble with the seventh year boys. She was not the typical Slytherin girl in that sense. She did not spend hours and hours upon her appearance or spend all of her time surrounded by the other girls in her year. Bella much preferred hanging out with the guys like the Lestrange brothers and Lucius Malfoy.
This was one of those rare moments though where Bellatrix was on her own. Though occasionally she enjoyed being by herself, as the company of teenage boys (even if they were extremely attractive and talented boys) got tiresome after awhile. Right now, she was dreadfully bored. the boys had not been in the common room and she didn't fancy looking for them (as that would make it seem as if she needed them and Bellatrix would never admit to something like that, they'd give her hell for it).
So there she was, sitting in the grass near the edge of the lake, watching the Giant Squid somewhat warily as she leaned back against the tree. Really, Bellatrix had no idea what had made her choose to go outside. Yes, it was a beautiful fall day but Bellatrix Black did not care about enjoying beautiful fall days. In fact, there was very little that Bella cared about other than the Dark Arts, her bloodline, and the Dark Lord's cause.
Unfortunately, it was still a long time until she would be graduating and able to make herself useful to him, but for now she was somewhat content to study as much as she could about the Dark Arts in preparation. Ms. Black was determined to be one of the best. Of course, she wasn't even sure that this would all work. After all, this Dark Lord was still for the most part staying under the radar so to speak, bidding his time.
Right now though, Bellatrix had other things to do. She had a book on potions (mostly poisons) that went into gruesome details about all the ever-so-lovely effects. It was the closest thing to publicly studying that Bellatrix would ever get. She wasn't entirely sure why she was reading this particular book at the moment, though it probably had something to do with her having read most of the other Dark Arts books she owned at least ten times already whereas she'd only read this one a couple times.
A light smirk graced her crimson lips as she ran her hand through her ebony locks, pushing them back away from her face. Although it was beautiful in the sun, she was purposely sitting in the shade where it was slightly cooler. Ms. Black prefered the cold and darkness, though she was quite content to stay there, so long as no one came along to bother her (unless it was one of the Slytherin boys who would provide a welcomed distraction).

Andromeda thought it was a lovely Sunday morning. The sun was shining The birds were singing and the lake was shiny and bright. Andy thought it would be a wonderful day to go out, so she brought along herself and herself. She would just observe, she thought. She didn't want to read or write or think. She wanted to enjoy the beautiful day, so she sat down and looked to her right.
Of course. To ruin her bright and shiny day, Bellatrix had to be there.

Of course, Bella thought when she heard someone sit down near her, ruining her peace. She knew immediately that it was not one of the Slytherins who would have immediately made some sort of sarcastic remark about her being outside or her reading. This meant she was going to have fun, but not the fun she was really hoping for. Her friends would be fun in that an entertaining conversation would result. However, someone else meant she was going to get to be very rude.
She huffed in annoyance as she shut the book. Bella set the book down on the grass and turned to see who had dared to disturb her peace. "'Dromeda?" she half groaned. When they were much smaller, she had looked up to Andy. They had never exactly been the best of friends since their personalities did not quite match up but she had unconditionally loved her sister, until she was sorted into the wrong house.
Bellatrix did not hate her older sister in the same way that she hated Sirius. At least Ravenclaw was a better house than Gryffindor. On the other hand, Andromeda was really starting to hang out with the wrong crowd in Bella's opinion. She was not at all shy about voicing this opinion to the older girl either. Everytime they got into an argument, Bella would hold this fact over Andy's head, insisting that she'd tell their parents just who their oldest daughter was choosing to grace with her presence. She hadn't told yet though. On one hand, it was such a good bargaining chip in fights and in the back of her mind, she probably still hoped that 'Dromeda would see the error of her ways.
Her lips curved into a slight frown as she turned more towards her sister. She arched her back more, sitting up straighter. She always felt the need to seem at her best when around Andromeda, as if somehow she could impress her sister into following the will of the family. She crossed her legs and rested one hand on her knee. "To what to do I owe the honor?" she questioned, clearly sarcastic as she looked her sister over.
Bellatrix and Andromeda were very similar in appearance. The Black sisters had all been blessed with good looks. Bella really wished Andy was not becoming a bloodtraitor. They could have been a lot closer. However, Bella had been raised by her parents to be a proper pureblood and could not except her sister's accepting attitude and mudblood friends.

'Oh, so now I need an appointment to present myself? I didn't notice you were there,' Andy responded icily. She sighed and tried to look anywhere but her sister and basically gave her the cold shoulder. She really didn't like arguing with her sister, but when Bella was as arrogant as she always was... Andy couldn't help it

Bellatrix raised a slender eyebrow at Andromeda's remark about needing an appointment. Sometimes, Bella really just did not understand the girl. All she had asked was what Andy wanted. Rather than voicing her opinion that 'Dromeda was quite out of her mind and probably shouldn't have been in Ravenclaw therefore, Bella saw a better opportunity through the question.
"Well, I suppose I can let it slide just this once," she replied arrogantly. "However, I do have a rather busy schedule what with all of the sixth and seventh year Slytherin boys all competing for my attention... Especially Little Lestrange, that boy is insatiable." Bellatrix smirked as she waited for her sister to reply. Her somewhat promiscuous behavior was rather well known, however, it was not a subject that was usually brought up in conversation unless Bella was really trying to make her darling sister uncomfortable.
Of course, she was aware that Andromeda could try to use this knowledge against her next time they were arguing, Bella knew that fraternizing with mudbloods was a far worse crime in her parents' eyes and that she could easily accuse her elder sister of making up the malicious rumor in order to blackmail her. Besides that, now that Narcissa was in Slytherin with her, she could generally count on the youngest Black sister to take her side.
"You didn't see me?" Bella scoffed. "'Dromeda, I do hope you're not going blind." She pretended to sound sincerely concerned. "I certainly hope that it's not genetic if you are, as really, I quite value my ability to see." Of course, Bellatrix would turn that into concern for her own health. She was perfectly aware that her elder sister was not actually going blind but Bellatrix thoroughly enjoyed annoying her sister.
((This is rather short compared to my usual posts but I really need to get to work on these essays that are due Monday...))

((short? yeah right))
'Of course,' Andy replied curtly, already becoming ruffled at her sister's annoyance. She actually felt like she really hated her own sister, as evil as that sounded. But, of course, it was no where near as evil as Bella truly was. Andy rolled her eyes as she continued. 'Yes I'm sure all the boys lust for you and all the girls covet you -- except, if you don't mind, me,' she retorted to another of Bella's annoying sincere but oh-so arrogant remarks. Now she was really getting pissed.
'Well, if he likes you do much, do something to either a) make him date you or b) ward him off. You're smart, I should think, so don't go on about your problems to me.' Not that someone stalking her older sister was much of a problem, Andy was blindly trying to make some sort of attempt at a comeback. She was failing miserably because picking on people, unlike her sister, wasn't one of her favourite sports.
'And to answer your last question, no I didn't see you; not because I'm going blind or whatever nonsense you think, but because you were hiding, it looks like, from the sun, as I walked through the sun. Going through that can give one tunnel vision and therefore ruin my peripheral vision,' Andy said cheekily, not caring how bitchy she sounded.

Bellatrix grinned when she seemed to have riled her sister up. Oh, this was far too simple a game. "Is that a hint of jealousy I detect, darling sister?" she questioned. Of course, Bellatrix did not think that her elder sister was jealous. She did however think she ought to be if she was a proper Black. She had all but given up on Andromeda though and would have questioned if Andy hadn't accidentally been switched at birth if they did not look so much a like.
"Date Rabbit?" Bella looked utterly horrified by the suggestion. "Sweetie," Bella normally only used pet names with the Slytherin boys, but on occasion she used them in order to seem patronizing with her older sister. "I'd never do anything of the sort. Getting rid of him is entirely out of the question too, he's a such a good shag and it is always so terribly amusing when the latest girl who thinks he is in love her finds out he's been cheating on her the whole time." Bellatrix smiled almost fondly at the thought. She was quite the sadistic young woman.
She shook her head firmly. "Besides, if I date Little Lestrange, than Rod is off limits and where is the fun in that?" Bellatrix had, over the past six years, gotten quite good at knowing just what to say to bother her older sister. She could be quite a little brat when she wanted to. her promiscuity was one of those topics that never failed to bother the older girl. Bella had explained to 'Cissa awhile ago that this was probably because the poor girl was sexually frustrated. Oh how Bella enjoyed trying to corrupt her little sister, not that Narcissa was really all that innocent herself.
"I'd forgotten how dreadfully boring you Ravenclaws are," Bella replied lazily to Andromeda's explanation of why she hadn't seen her, which the younger Ms. Black found entirely too long. "Really 'Dromeda, you ought to spend less of your time in the library and more of your time with a nice pureblooded boy." Of course Bellatrix had to include that adjective. She would be utterly furious if her sister ever dated one of those mudbloods. It was one thing to fraternize with them, it was much more serious to get involved with one of them. "Seriously, it would do you a world of good."

Andy rolled her eyes. 'I don't need to hear you rant on about boys and the such. You're sexuality and relationship status means nothing to me,' Andy sighed and ran a hand through her hair. 'And we're not boring as you think,' she defended. She rolled her eyes again, something she often did around her sister. "We just don't make sport of 'shagging', what you call 'fun,' and tormenting people that are 3 times better than you'll ever be,' Andy replied evenly. She was not going to loose her temper on her older sister ;; especially when she knew Bella was just saying all this to bother her. She would not leave either. That showed a sign of weakness. Andromeda Black was not weak, no matter what her conniving sister did, said, or shagged.
'And why date a pureblood,' she mimicked Bella's lazy tone. 'when I can easily ask out some Ravenclaw half blood or even muggle-born. Then, if things turned out, I could be even married to one and you'd be related to them.' She knew that would irk her sister. Pure bloods and muggleborns were the thing Bella hated most, except, maybe, well, Sirius.

Bellatrix shrugged. "Don't ask and I won't tell," she replied calmly. "You brought this entire conversation upon yourself, first by sitting by me, then asking a stupid question, and then trying to give me bloody terrible advice." The younger Ms. Black smirked as she looked over at her sister. "You're supposed to be the smart one, you should be able to see that none of this is remotely my fault and if the idea of Rabastan wanting to shag me senseless bothers you so much, you are perfectly free to leave."
She laughed when Andromeda said that the people she and her friends torment are better than her. "Darling, I stopped caring what you think when you stopped behaving like a proper Black," Bella replied bluntly. It was true of course. The only people whose opinions mattered to her where in her house and of the same blood status. Andromeda was not a Slytherin and although they shared the same bloodline, it hardly mattered from the way Andy conducted herself.
"Besides that, shagging is a sport, if you're good enough, that ii," she clarified. "I happen to quite like my definition of fun, and if the people I torment were better than me, I wouldn't be tormenting them, now would I?" Bella rolled her eyes and shook her head as though she were extremely disappointed with Andromeda. It's quite hard to offend a young woman who simply does not give a damn about anything except her bloodline and what those who she liked thought of her since those she liked where those who agreed with her.
Bella narrowed her eyes slightly. "Why date a pureblood?" she repeated as if she were unsure she heard the girl properly. "Clearly, you've never tried it or believe me, you'd know." Bellatrix grinned suggestively. "As for you marrying any of that filth, I wouldn't suggest it. You're lucky mother and father don't know you waste your time with them. But marry one?" Bella laughed bitterly. "You'd be disowned like that," she snapped her fingers. "Really sis, you saw what happened to Sirius just for being friends with them, you marry one and you'll be as good as dead to me, Cissa, and the rest of the family."
Bella would not let her sister see how truly angry that comment had made her. However, her response had been an honest one. Andromeda would be disowned in an instant if their parents even heard her suggest something like that. Bella was still hoping Andy would grow out of this utterly ridiculous rebellious phase though, so she wasn't about to tell Druella and Cygnus just yet.

'I never asked. What you do in your personal time does not concern me whatsoever,' Andy repeated, eying her sister in a way that said 'conversation of that type is over'. It was highly unlikely though that Bella would stop the conversation. Andy knew her sister all too well that Bella would never pass up a chance to annoy Andy. Andy was now starting to really hate her sister.
'I'm not your darling either, bub, so don't call me that again. I'm your sister, barely, but never your darling.'Andy looked her sister straight in the face. 'I started acting normal, no matter what your definition is. The Black family needs to change. It's a good thing I did before Mother and or Daddy brainwashed me like they did you. Going to Hogwarts and hanging with Sirius more than you was the best thing I've ever done,' Andy admitted.
'There would be a logical explanation to that, darling,' Andy started. 'You're simply jealous and that's why your tormenting those poor people.' She really didn't want to go into that, and she knew Bella was going to push the matter further when she 'disappointedly' shook her head at Andy. Oh well, it would give Andy something to do.
'Yes you heard me,' Andy replied calmly when her sister incredulously repeated her. 'I never would want to. the way you make pureblood sound is horrid, and I would never even think of interacting with one unless they were Cissy, Sirius, James, or someone who was decently pureblood. Not all, Pure Blood Power! I own your soul!' Andy said, making air quotes. 'And I wouldn't actually mind if I was good as dead. That would make my job of defying them easier.'
ANdy really didn't mind if she got disowned. She was honest about that. It would make her job a hell of a lot easier if she did get blasted off the family tree. Her parents would never find out about her going-ons at school until she was at least 18 or 19; that would be when Andy had either gotten married, eloped, ran off or gotten a job. She wouldn't have to deal with the lot of them, and she'd never see Bella again. She could still visit Sirius and she could write to Cissy in secret. That would be a good time, she thought.

What on earth did you expect 'Dromeda?" Bellatrix asked. "If you're going to ask me if you need an appointment to talk to me, you cannot seriously expect me to just say oh, of course not, I'll always have time for my darling big sister," Ms. Black was quite good at faking over sincerity. She laughed harshly and shook her head. "Sorry, sis, you set yourself up for that one."
"I call everyone that, love," she purred in response. "But if you absolutely refuse to go by it, you know I'm still going to call you it, darling." Bellatrix could be quite the annoying little brat when she wanted to me. "And you are still my sister until Mother and Father decide to disown you when they find out that you're practically a bloodtraitor like Sirius."
Bellatrix shook her head. "Well, no, that's not logical at all, dearest sister," she replied calmly. "They have nothing I could possibly want. I have money, good looks, intelligence, boys, and a good bloodline." She shrugged. "I fail to see what I'm supposed to be jealous of."
"Not all of us are as promiscuous as me and Rabbit," she replied. "And 'Cissa counts as one of us, she's a Slytherin pureblood and she'll end up marrying a Slytherin pureblood." Bella reminded her older sister calmly. Bellatrix was possessive of Narcissa. Although the youngest Black sister tried to be neutral, she was slightly closer to Bella and in her mind, that meant she won. She debated including that Andromeda was promised to marry one as well but kept that information to herself for the time being.
Bellatrix was bothered that her sister did not care about being disowned. She used to love Andy but now, well, the older girl was making it very easy for Bellatrix to hate her. She did not want to have to hate her, but Andy was giving her no choice.

Andromeda ignored her sister's first remark. She didn't want to go deeper and deeper into the argument, so she grew silent for a few minutes. "Call me what you like, but I'm not going to answer you when you refer me to that, dear" Andy said, looking away from her sister and over the Lake.
"Then maybe you should look harder," Andy responded coldly. She really hated getting into arguments with anyone. It wasn't in her nature, especially with someone like Bella. It was just annoying arguing with someone so bratty, arrogant, bitchy, and downright evil. She hated her sister now, she thought. She hated Bella with all her might.
"You and Cissy can marry anyone you wish, it doesn't not bother me," Andy said. "Cause the iminute I get disowned, it won't matter to me at all." Andy was serious about not caring if she was disowned. She wanted to be gone with the whole lot, just as Sirius had been. He'd been disowned a few months ago when he ran away to live with James Potter's family. He was alot better off, he'd told her. Andy was just waiting till she was 18ish to let he parents know of her doings. Then she'd be with whomever she wanted and on her own, like Sirius.

Bellatrix rolled her eyes and refrained from informing Andromeda that simply ignoring her because she called her darling was incredibly childish. Why? Well, Bella had found a better use for this information. All she had to do was simply tell Andromeda something very important and then gloat about the fact that Andy had replied. Of course, she had very good information to use that with thanks to her apparent husband-to-be, Rabastan.
"Andy, love," Bellatrix replied calmly, "we already established that we're not going blind, I don't need to look any harder." Yes, Bellatrix had the annoying younger sister act perfected. She was aware that this was not the best method to get Andy to see the error of her ways, but it was certainly more fun for her.
"Actually, no," Bella corrected. "We can't. Neither can you, darling. Mother and father already have all of that, arranged." She spoke as casually as she could, knowing that this will only make her sister angrier. Then again, really, they ought to have expected this sort of thing from their parents. Even Bella when pressed on the matter, would probably admit that their parents held some pretty ridiculously outdated ideals.
Of course, she would only reference a few of them, the rest she believed were perfectly logical. For instance, she thought that purebloods were indeed far superior to mudblood filth. However, she would have thoroughly objected to an arranged marriage, were it not to one of her closest friends whom she, as she so bluntly would put it, shags on a regular basis. Her parents would be horrified if they found out about this relationship, though perhaps not if they thought it was only with Rabbit.

"Yeah, yeah, alright whatever, You're right," Andy said coolly. Maybe that would get Bella off her back. "As usual, little sis, you're right," Andy repeated. She knew Bella would suspect why Andy was saying that, but she smirked to her younger sister, waiting for her reply.
Then, she narrowed her eyes. "What are you talking a bout, B? Arranged?" she asked, barely squinting at her sister. Bella's expression, however, didn't change. Andy had a feeling whatever her sister was talking about was bad. Very bad. And it included Andy.
That's what annoyed Andy about Bella most. She was adored by her parents; favouritism at it's worst. Even though Andy was a prefect pure-blooded daughter at home, Bella was still Cynus and Druella's favourite. Cissy was soon in tow, and she knew how much Bella loved the attention. She knew how Bella thrived on it and then threw it back in her face.
She also knew that bella knew a lot of things that Andy didn't; this was one of them, and Andy had a bad idea feeling about it.

Bella was aware that this was not a normal thing for Andromeda to admit. In fact, she doubted that her sister would ever say that sincerely. "Glad to see you're finally seeing the errors of your ways," she replied calmly, but still somewhat sarcastically. She knew that this was too good to be true but she'd play along and use it against her older sister at a later point in time. Quoting out of context was always quite fun.
Bellatrix kept up her calm demeanor despite her older sister's obvious concern and the actual importance of the topic. Oh how Bellatrix enjoyed having information her sisters did not. Telling Narcissa had of course been quite fun but would not be nearly as fun as telling Andromeda. Narcissa's reaction was good but 'Dromeda would really freak when she finally learns all of the details.
She shrugged casually. "I mean exactly what I said. Mother and father have all of that arranged," she repeated herself, a slight smile tugging at her lips. She assumed correctly that Andy would assume their parents had told her something that they did not tell their eldest daughter. That was why she did not mention Rabbit yet this time. It was much more fun making Andromeda think that the family was keeping things from her, further proving that Bellatrix was the favorite daughter.
