James was sat in front of the fire he was slightly nervous but not to bad, his hair was sticking out in every direction as usual and he ran his hand through it and messed it up, a nervous habit. He had been there only five minutes and already Sirius and Remus had came offer and wished him good luck. It made him feel like he had no luck. As he looked into the flames he heard some voices behind him. Three girls, two were leaving
"Bye Lily, have fun" they called as the walked out of the common room. James stood up to see Lily standing behind him, he smiled
"Hey" he said lookign at her happily, hoping this wasnt a dream.

Lily had dressed plainly that morning, and woke up with a knot in her stomach, hardly sure that she was actually going through with this. She was going on a "date" with Potter, and she wasn't dying. Well, not to her knowledge, anyways. That afternoon, she told Alice and a few other girls that she was just doing her rounds tonight. They didn't know that she would be doing them in the company of James Potter, not Remus. She sucked in a deep breathe as the girls left, headed to the library.
Lily, as calm as she had been until this point, felt herself sway as Potter smiled at her.
She looked down, and then towards the window on the far side of the common room.
"Hi," she said, her eyes still there. "You ready?"

James smiled she looked nervous, more then he was and he was the one witha big crush on her. "Always" he answered "Do you want me to walk like ten steps behind or something so no one knows we are together" he said grinning at her, he knew Lily wouldn't tell anyone where they were going. He walked to her side "How was your day?" he asked "I didn't see you in lessons, i had a late night" he said remembering his night with the marauders, Remus had been ok, nothing major had happened although Sirius had tried to play fight and James had a deep cut on one side of his stomach to his shoulder.

Lily blushed as he walked closer to her, standing not too far from her. Luckily, there wasn't anyone in the common room at the moment. She felt a smile curve on her lips. If she had been bolder, she wouldn't have asked him to do that for her. If she had been bolder, she would probably have kissed him.
"Well, you don't have to. Most of the time there aren't many people," she said truthfully. Usually, it was just Remus and herself. They would always talk, and sometimes about James. And then, she said, "Well.. we should, you know, go..." It was almost eight, and curfew was nine, which meant that most people would be either already in their dorms or in the common room. To be honest, it was odd not seeing anyone in the common room at this time in the evening. Her friends were running to the library to pick up a book, and then they would be back.

James didn't smile at her now "Im flattered that you are so desperate to be seen with me" he said dryly walking away from hber towards the common room entrance, he turned when she didn't follow "Are you coming" he said still slightly hurt by her actions. He held the portrait open for her and waited for her to walk through.

Lily jumped, her mind had drifted off to their kiss, and had been brought back to earth with his voice. She hurried off to the small passageway that preceded the portrait, and once there, closed the portrait. Then, she felt something bubble up in her stomach, and she reached up to James' neck and brought him into another kiss. Honestly, she had lost almost all of her self control. Almost.
Once she pulled away, she smirked at his shocked but goofy grin. "Sorry that I'm so desperate to be seen with you," she said playfully, and then hoisted herself out of the portrait hole and out into the corridor.

James was shcoked and more confused then ever "Wow Lily, you sure know how to confuse a guy" he said smiling. He was happy about her kissing him, but it confused him so much, one moment she was a complete bitch the next she was kissing him, did she acctually like him or was this just a cruel plan. James decided not to think about it until later. He slipped his hand into hers and walked down the corridors to the front of school "So where would you like to go?" he asked her.

Lily shivered as his hand touched hers. Tingles were sent spiralling all over, and the butterflys in her stomach where jumping around. "What's so confusing?" she asked, unsure of what he meant. As they walked along, there wasn't anyone in the corridors, which was a relief for Lily. This was a one-time ordeal, she told herself sternly. She wouldn't allow herself to fall - or, for that matter, think about falling - for James Potter. She shook her head, trying to shake the feelings. But when his hand squeezed hers, she felt those feelings rush right back to her.

"Well for starters you hate me one second and the next your kissing me, you say no to my pursuits for a good two years and then randomly say yes, im beginning to think this was a drae by one of your friends" he said looking at the floor his hand still around her soft skin intangled with her fingers. "Just to clarify, what does this" he said gesturing around to them dating "What does this mean to you?" he asked looking into her eyes.

Lily felt her heart beat quicken to a painful pace. She looked around, and tore her hand from his, and crossed her arms over her chest. She was nervous. She was scared. And him being... insecure, when he usually wasn't, didn't help how she was feeling at all. She then looked up at him, prepared to tell him.
"You are James Potter. You are.. supposed to be perfect and secure about who you are, at all times. You are invincible. You are... SuperPotter," she bantered, knowing that he had no idea who Superman was. "You aren't supposed to be nervous about anything ever. You never have been. So although you think that my personality has changed, I know for a fact that you aren't acting normal. Seriously, James, I'm trying. Trying to see who you really are, I mean. So, forgive me, James, if I'm a bit... scared."

James looked at her "Sorry im not "superpotter" he said "Im not who i pretend to be most of the time, in fact in nothing like that" he shrugged "Well maybe a little, but more in a funny way then an acctual im think im god way" he said smiling at her "I wish you could acctually understand how much i liked you" he said "But youi are stubborn Lily Evans, i dont think you really wanna see who i am because your scared" he said looking into her eyes.

Lily stared at him. "Who are you, then? Isn't it kind of difficult to hide one's personality for years on end? And duh, I'm scared. I mean..." she was at a loss for words. "I mean.. DUH, James."
Then, during a small silence, out of no where, "Will you take me flying?"

"Well to be honest im only like that around you, i dont know why but you seem to bring out my bad side, if i hadn't been such a jerk to you you would never have noticed me" he said "And i guess the Ma...Sirius, Remus and Pete bring out my bad side aswell" he shrugged "But really i am a nice guy" he said smiling weakly at her.
"Of course i will take you flying" he said with a smile "On our second date" he grinned.

She narrowed her eyes, and scoffed. "Well, then. I guess you can finish holding my hand on our second date then," she said with playfullness, although she was completely serious. If she had to wait for him to take her flying, then he could wait to hold her hand. She found it to be a rather nice trade off. She made a small "hmph" noise, raised her eyesbrows, smirked, and twirled around and kept walking.

"Flying is much more fun during the day anyway" he said "But then that means you will have to be seen with me" James said looking like that might be a problem for her "So i guess you wont wanna go" he added and started walking next to her. "Anyway, you didn't say where you wanted to go?" he said to her "Ladies choice" he added.
