Florence leaned against the wall near the Great Hall. She didn't want to go in, even though it was lunch time and she was starving. "What's the point anyway?" She said to herself under her breath. "It's not like I have anyone to actually sit with," She sighed as she put down her tan messenger bag. It's not that Florence didn't have any friends, she just didn't... well have any friends. Sure, she could make light conversation with some students, but she didn't really have a best friend, someone she could count on and laugh for hours with. Florence had friends in first and second year, but she guessed that they weren't that great because they abandoned her in third year. That's when Florence really changed into what she was today; a procrastinator and a person who puts fun before work.
Florence wasn't really the ideal Ravenclaw. She was smart, yes, but she didn't really need to try hard for it. She preferred to cram the night before a exam and spend all the nights before it by sneaking out for late night walks or exploring the castle.
So here she was, standing outside the Great Hall debating whether or not to make a quick trip to steal a sandwich or two. Suddenly she saw a semi familiar face entering the Great Hall. "Hey can you...?" She stopped mind sentence. She was about to ask them if they could grab her a ham sandwich but she stopped. She felt pretty awkward asking someone she barely knew, but only recognized to get her food. "Never mind..."She added as she turned around. "Smooth Florence," She thought to herself. She hoped that the person would go away, but she guessed that that wasn't an option for her.

Marisa sighed as she walked to the Great Hall. The smell that she had just smelt from Potions Class had made her usual hunger go right out the window. Though she would love to put her head right into one of her favorite books, she knew that if she didn't eat something, she would be a prissy to everyone. Thats when she saw Florence White. She didn't really know Florence White too much, just a face that she recognized really. They had a couple of classes together but never really talked. Florence didn't really have any friends that Marisa knew about. She turned when Florence started to talk. When Florence cut off her question, Marisa raised an eyebrow. Was this girl scared of talking to other people. Marisa wouldn't let this conversation go to waist. "Aren't you in one of my classes? It's Florence, right?" she asked quickly expecting an answer. She wasn't going to be leaving this girl alone right away.

Florence Suddenly put a name to the face standing before her. Marisa Porter. They had a few classes together, but they had never really talked before. "Um, I think believe I'm in a couple of them. Weren't you just in my potions class?" Florence said as cooly as possible.
Florence was actually nervous, for once in her life. There wasn't too many things that made her nervous, but this was one of them. Florence just ad problems communicating at times, she tended to say something stupid or rude and cause the person to walk away.
"Yeah, I'm Florence. And if you were in my Potions class than you must be Marisa." She asked. Well, things were going good so far. Florence just hoped that it would continue.

Marisa had a smile on her face now that she realized that which class she had with Florence. "Yeah, we just had Potions. Ug, I hate Slughorn. And that Freezing Potion was so easy to make, right?" She actually didn't hate Potions...she just hate the teacher and part of the class and...well...people in the class. Other then that, she enjoyed it. "Yeah, I'm Marisa." she replied. "How are you? You and I haven't really talked that much since the school year started." Marisa grabbed Florence's arm and pulled her into the Great Hall, tired of standing in the middle of the hall. She pulled her over to the Ravenclaw bench and sat down, shoving someone over to make room for Florence to sit down next to her. She put a sandwhich and some chips on a plate and slowly started to sip some water as she waited for Florence to reply.

Florence sighed with relief when Marisa started to talk about potions. She was a very easy person to talk to. "Too easy almost. As long as we don't have any homework, then I'm good." She said with a smile. Florence had always had a problem finishing her homework. Procrastination seemed to take over her, a trait that most Ravenclaws lacked and/or looked down upon.
"I'm goo-" Florence didn't get to finish her sentence. Marisa grabbed her by the arms and pulled her into the Great Hall. Florence felt a bit bad when Marisa pushed someone out of the way to make room for her but, she quickly forgot about it when her hunger started to take control. Florence grabbed the ham sandwich she was craving for and served herself a mountain of chips. "Mmm... I was so hungry!" She said into her sandwich.
Florence then looked around. "I've forgotten how busy the Great Hall is. I... I haven't exactly been eating in here lately," She said quietly. She was basically admitting that she had no one. And Florence really wanted to have a someone.

"Yeah, Slughorn sometimes give so much homework that I usually don't finish. He doesn't yell at me though, I'm in the 'Slug Club'." she laughed at the name she called the club. Taking a bite of sandwich, she ignored the girl that was shoved over, telling her to move. Marisa didn't really care for what this girl had to say. "I know, I was so hungry. Sometimes Slughorn talks forever sometimes." She then realized that Florence mentioned she hadn't really been in the Great Hall this year. "You haven't been here? I thought I say you with some other girl-whats her face-in here yesterday. Nevermind. You should know that you can always squeeze into something with me." Marisa couldn't help but feel bad now that she knew Florence didn't have a lot of friends.

"I usually never finish, and I don't even have the benefit of being a 'Slug Club' member." Florence giggled at the name 'Slug Club.' She reached across the table to grab the mayonnaise for her sandwich as she replied to Marisa. "I've come here a couple times, like the opening feast and such. Usually I eat in the library, until i get kicked out for getting crumbs stuck in the pages." Florence laughed at her last sentence. She had been kicked out of the library so many times in just the past week alone.
"Thanks, I'll remember that." Florence said as she smiled. She really meant it. Marisa was probably the first person she had actually felt comfortable around.

Marisa smiled with Florence as she took another bite of her sandwich. She was really starting to enjoy this girls company and could get used to it. "So, what other classes do I have with you? I think we have Herbology together too." she wasn't sure, but it was worth a guess. After she had a sip of water, she turned to Florence. "So...anyone you think is cute? If you don't mind me asking." She gave a small smile. She was a sucker for gossip but if Florence didn't want to talk about that kind of stuff, that was okay. "Yeah, Madame Pince can be a huge bother sometimes."

"Hmm, let me see your schedule," Florence said as she pulled out her own from her bag to compare. "I think I am in your Herbology class, and maybe Transfiguration. I wouldn't know, McGonagall assigned me a seat in the front of the room and I can't see anyone behind me," She said as she laid her schedule on the table, trying to avoid dripping her pumpkin juice on it.
Florence smiled, of course there where many boys whom she thought were cute. "Well, there are a couple..." She said as she blushed slightly. She didn't usually blush, she was usually a very outgoing girl but this was the first time in awhile that she talked about boys with another girl.
"Well Sirius and Potter are definitely good looking but they are pretty much off limits, and some of the older Slytherins are handsome but they are pretty much jerks," She said completely opened up to Marisa without to much hesitation as she started to feel more comfortable around her. "It seems all the god looking ones are either jerks or taken," She sighed as she struggled to open her mayo jar. "We need to get some new, cute boys at this school. Now do you have your eye on anyone in particular?" Florence said. She was hoping that she wasn't being to overwhelming. She didn't want to scare Marisa off, but Florence guessed that she and Marisa could be really good friends.

Marisa refused to blush when Florence asked about guys. She tried, but a sudden red color appeared on her cheeks. "Well, there is one..." she said suddenl, confused by her outburst. "But like you said, there really does need to be some new boys in the school who aren't prats like others." Changing the subject suddenly, she took out her schuedule and compared it with Florence. "Yeah, we have both those classes together. Isn't that usual? Could you pass the pudding?" she probably sounded nervous and was hoping that Florence wouldn't push the issue.

Florence smiled when Marisa mentioned that there was someone whom she had her eye on this year. "Most are prats anyways. I have yet to met a decent guy, although I don't really talk to many guys, I tend to say the wrong things and just look stupid," She said. It was true, she tended to just get embarrassed and mess up her words completely.
"Thats good. Now I'm not completely alone, if you don't mind if i sit near you during them," Florence said as she passed Marisa the pudding. Marisa and her got along pretty well, she rather liked her company.

Marisa was surprise on how well she got along with Florence. She might not have know Florence too well before today, but they were becoming really good friends. She took a small scoop of pudding and plopped it on her plate. "Most guys are prats usually so its not like it really matters. What's your favorite class?" She hoped it would be one that Marisa wasn't good in, since she might be able to help her with homework. "I mean, I kinda like one guy in Gryffindor, but I don't think he really notices me...even though we have most classes together and a lot of girls fawn over him."

"Hmm... I would have to say my favorite class is potions. I don't know why, that's usually a Slytherin favorite and Slughorn detests me. But it reminds me of cooking, kind of. As long as I complete my homework for that class I'm fine, although I usually can't finish it." She said as she wiped her mouth with a napkin. If Slughorn actually likes her she would probably have a better grade but that was not the case. Most teachers weren't too fond of her. "I know what you mean, I feel like I'm never noticed by guys... although I am never noticed by them. But maybe that will change this year, I sure hope so." Florence said. She was really hoping to find a nice guy, someone who wasn't fake or just another guy who used women.

Marisa smiled when she heard Florence mention Potions. That was Marisa's worst class and the only reason she was in it this year was because she cheated off of someone the last couple of years. "Yeah, Potions is my worst subject, but also my favorite. It's kinda weird like that though. You wouldn't mind tutoring me...would you?" She really need help in that class if she had any chance of making it to N.E.W.Ts. "Hopefully all the guys will mature this year." She glanced at the Gryffindor table where Potter and Black were playing with their food. She rolled her eyes and turned to Florence. "What class do you have next? I have Transfiguration."

"I would love to tutor you!" Florence said with an eager smile. She actually looked forward to it, even if it meant doing work and studying. It couldn't be that bad could it? It would probably be a lot of fun with Marisa. "The day that the mature will be a very happy day. I think I would throw a party," Florence said jokingly. Florence pulled out her schedule and glanced at her next class. "I have that too. Maybe we could sit together?" She said hopefully. "When does it start?" Florence asked. She needed to know if she had time to finish her desert or if she had to eat it on the run. Although eating and running never ended well for her. It was a one way ticket to the hospital wing.
